Curious George Live - January 16, 2010

When Jeff & I learned that Curious George Live was coming to Shea's in Buffalo, we KNEW we had to take Noah. Noah has never been to the theater before, so not only was he excited, but Jeff & I were, too. It was a cold, blustery day, & we had a little walk to get to Shea's. Noah kept asking us, "Where's George?"Curious George Live - it really was a fantastic musical production! We had excellent seats: Row D, so that Noah could see things really well. Not certain why he's smiling like this - but here he is - waiting for it to start:Chef Pisghetti was teaching George how to make meatballs, so George could compete in the "Golden Meatball Contest." Jeff & I were both impressed with how well the show was true to the PBS cartoon. The "bad guy" who was mass-producing square-meatballs.Intermission. Noah kept asking to go back out to the lobby --we had spent some time out there prior to the show starting. I understand his awe, Shea's is absolutely beautiful. During the Golden Meatball Contest -And Curious George WON! (sorry if any of you blog-readers are going to see this & I just ruined the ending!) The Man with the Yellow Hat was so proud of George! And confetti went FLYING.Noah LOVED it. He sat still the entire hour & a half.Leaving Shea's...Noah was also excited that we got to see the subway-train going through downtown Buffalo. Off we went to Noah's first "real" restaurant (aside from Ted's or McDonald's) - we ate at Friendly's. Again, the fun continued as he was tickled to order a vanilla milkshake with a grilled cheese sandwich & fries for lunch. Then, we took Noah back to Jeff's parents to meet up with Norah...and Noah was fast asleep. What an awesome outing! When Noah woke up from his nap, he told Ra-ra & Papa J. all about George!

1.5

Norah turned one & 1/2 on January 15th. I'm often asked to describe Norah to people & I quickly say, "Spunky!" I love Lil'Miss to pieces, but - watch out world - she can be a brute! There is no real way to "compare" Noah & Norah...boys & girls are simply different from one another. Norah's day to day activity include keeping up with her brother & instigating things. It's quite humorous, most of the time. She's so happy, almost 99% of the time:Norah isn't happy unless she is doing something to make everyone around her laugh. One thing that is really fun is Norah's sense of style. She is often seen wearing hats, dress-up clothes, and already just LOVES shoes & jewelry. She's quite the diva. She's also a cuddler...and her favorite thing is her bunny. We were smart, and have 2 identical bunnies so we can throw them in the washing machine from time to time. "What's with the camera, Mommy?"She found my lens cap.Hat #2, and a mouthful of teeth. With those chompers - she's certainly my fruit girl. I'm not certain what her favorite would be, but loves: grapes, apples, bananas, peaches, cantaloupe, watermelon, pears...you name it, she really eats almost anything. Except eggs. The stinker...when it comes to eggs, she'll hand them back over to me - even french toast is a no-go with her. Norah got Mrs. Potato Head for Christmas from Ra-ra & Papa W. and LOVES it. She'll play with that for extended periods of time when in the toy room. She also loves her purse, her tea set, and all her Melissa & Doug toy food, and her "babies."Her other favorite thing, right up there to her bunny, is this silly fridge radio. She's ALWAYS dancing & carrying her "boombox" around. It's too cute.Hat #3 and many more faces. She's persistant & KNOWS what she wants. Like I said, "Watch out world!"There, got it.Still jamming to the boombox.Peek!
Ah, Lil'Miss - it's hard to remember what life was like without you. You, too, add so much joy to your lives. Even though Noah still refers to you as "baby" you are quite grown up. Hard to believe you'll sit & do puzzles, or sing, or simply put a big smirk on your face to make us laugh. You're always RUNNING around in your crib, or making it "slide" across the room, OR throwing EVERYTHING out of your crib, saying "Ut o" and making us come up & see what's wrong, then greeted by a, "Hi!" You silly girl. You sure make mommy & daddy very happy. We love you...but please slow down on the growing!

Three and a Half

Noah turned 3 1/2 on January 10th. My, time goes fast. Although Noah has always had an extreme love for music at a young, young age - his most recent love is the violin. With Jeff being a music teacher, our children are very fortunate to be exposed to several different instruments. We have told Noah that if he keeps this passion up, that he can have lessons this summer. (Don't mind his hair - he got a haircut a few days after these pictures were taken). He practices very hard to get a nice sound to come out while he bows.Keep up the good work, Noah!
So, 3 and a 1/2 is a neat age. We see Noah maturing before our eyes. His imagination has come to life - he loves to pretend and dress up as a doctor, a fireman, a cowboy, or a chef. He loves to play with his tractors & trucks. He still enjoys reading & now even "pretends" to read those books that he now has memorized from us reading them over & over. He's quite the little chatter bug. Curious George is still his favorite cartoon. Duck & blanket are still "must-haves" before going to bed, although Woody has joined the regime. It's fun seeing him now enjoying a bowl of tomato soup with his grilled cheese sandwich. He often asks for bologna & cheese (which I find disgusting) but seems to be one of his favorite things for lunch. He's also a pasta lover --and also enjoys meatloaf. It's just neat to see his little personality bursting out. He's kind, loves to snuggle, and is quite the "politeness police" when it comes to his sister using her manners correctly. I love hearing Noah pray before every meal, and to clear his plate after excusing himself from the table. It's certainly not because of all these little manners he's picked up so well - but because of simply who he is. It's a pleasure watching you grow up, Noah - and somedays I get sad knowing that it goes by too quickly. What I do know, is if this is a glimpse of the man you will all too quickly be - you will be a fine gem. I hope you always snuggle with me & always have the joy for life that you currently have. Love you, Magoo!

Christmas: Part 2

After Christmas morning & early afternoon at our house...we loaded up the car & headed up to Jeff's parents for Christmas. This year, Jeff's brother, Rob & sister-in-law, Val hosted Christmas at their house. Val had things decorated so nicely:Noah & Norah's cousins: Luke & Dylan in front of all the presents. Jeff's oldest brother's family wasn't able to make it - as they were sick with the stomach bug.Papa J. was holding the youngest, little Maddie - only 2 months old:
Jeff was holding Norah...while she would sit still, anyway. She was enjoying all the food:As was Noah:Norah always finds someone's shoes to put on...here it was Val's mom's...She was just too cute in her Christmas dress...Ah ha - found the Chex Mix...Later, we went back to Jeff's parents to spend the night & the kids got in their jammies.Noah loved cuddling up with Ra-ra J. Little did we know that in 36 hours the stomach bug would hit our family, too. I got it first, then about 6 hours into it - Jeff got it. Poor Noah, he held strong, until Thursday, New Year Eve's night. He asked to go to bed early - and about an hour later --it struck. Poor little guy. He'd never thrown up before. We spent that evening basically cleaning up after him & wearing the washing machine out. We felt so sad for him. Luckily, he bounced back in about 2 days.

Christmas 2009

Christmas '09 went as such: Jeff & I take turns spending Christmas with each of our families and this year was to be a Joslyn Christmas. SO, on Dec. 24th we had done Christmas with my family. There are no pictures...basically, we ate dinner and my brother became VERY ill with the stomach bug while at my parent's house. The rest of that was a blur. Jeff & I came home on the 24th & got ready for Santa's arrival at our house. It looked like such:We got up on the 25th - the kiddos came downstairs with The Chipmunks music playing! Santa ate his chocolate chip cookies that Jeff & Noah made & left only a morsel. He drank his milk & took the carrots for the reindeer. Noah said, "Look, it's all gone...except this crumb!" and put it in his mouth.Noah went quickly to his stocking.A pez dispenser! (his first!)Norah wanted to do her stocking, too!Norah's 2nd Hallmark Ornament to add to her collection. And bracelets (which quickly fell apart & got returned!)We got the kids their own table - they both LOVE it.Buzz & Woody were unwrapped & Christmas came to a screeching hault! He was SO happy.Norah got a purse...which she loved. We enjoyed Christmas morning together as a family - the kids devoured their Cinnamon Sugar PopTarts (a special treat) and we packed up & headed to the Joslyn's in Derby that afternoon...

Not any pictures of Jeffrey & I...I got Jeff a swivel-rocker-recliner and some clothing, & Jeff got me a Pandora bracelet, slippers, and a sweater. The kids each got me a charm for my bracelet - I love it!

Noah as Joseph, December 20th

Last year, Noah was a shepherd, although at almost 2 1/2, he didn't really know...
This year, however at almost 3 1/2, was a different story. Noah, being the only boy in his Sunday School class, was Joseph. We had a Peanut's Gang Manger scene on our window & one night when I was explaining Joseph to Noah, Noah grabbed my hand & told me to come look. He took me to the window where the Manger-window-clings were. "Mama, I want to be this guy (Linus) - he's a shepherd & he's cool because he watches sheep!" I tried hard not to laugh, because it was so cute. I told him, "No, you are Joseph (Charlie Brown) and he's cool, too!" We have books & so on & so forth, but he was convinced that he wanted to "Watch sheep." SO, we told Noah that Joseph is a carpenter...like Handy Manny...in which Noah said, "He'd like to be Handy Manny." AH, this isn't Halloween...but in the end, Noah played a fine Joseph.I have to laugh, because Mary, is the tall girl in blue, standing behind Noah (as Joseph).I think Noah liked singing much better than being Joseph, besides --he got to ring his own bell. Noah sang his heart out, but wasn't too fond of his "constricting costume."
After he was done, he sat between Ra-ra & Papa...and read a hymnal. Sweet, sweet, son of mine...I love every little aspect of you.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

A lot of baking was done - but I only took the time to take a picture of the chocolate covered pretzels Jeff helped me with.Yummy, indeed.

Outtakes

Sometimes Noah tells me to get my camera out. Before Christmas, I thought this would be a good idea - until converstations went something like, "Noah, don't choke your sister! Norah, take your bink out!""Mama, we're wrestling!" (Just want I want to send in the Christmas cards...)I thought we'd try some in front of the tree...Norah found her bunny much more interesting & Noah wanted his blanket...Noah decided to say, "Cheese" but Norah still would not pay attention...

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

The tree was put up -This year Jeff's parents had given us their village & we decorated the mantle with it. Some older bulbs, along with my Hallmark ornament collection adorned the tree. And the kids' favorite: the train under the tree. The train, alone, entertained them for days - and hours upon hours. We had found a train whistle in our travels for a souvenir for Noah over the summer. He was constantly blowing his whistle & yelling, "All aboard!" I wish I could freeze time & keep the kids at 1 & 3 years old - they have so much joy.

Good to the Last Drop

This holiday season was really fun, with Noah enjoying more things & asking for hot cocoa all the time! Norah enjoys "Cocoa Time" too...with a bottle & lots of marshmallows."It's delicious!" Noah tells me - and I fully agree.

December 3rd: Downtown Merchant Opening Night

As per tradition, we went up town for downtown Merchant Night. The kids always love it, as we make a trip to the library & then stay out for the fireworks display.
Noah liked looking in the store-fronts & seeing this Santa at Fisher's Pharmacy. YAY - fireworks. Norah didn't even flinch - she loved them, too!

I Want A Buzz Lightyear...

Noah was super-excited to see Santa this year. Although, once he saw him, Noah got right to the point: "I'd like a Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and some tractors...and Baby Norah needs some baby dolls." He was very sweet to ask for something for his sister, as there are no pictures of her...because she wanted NOTHING to do with Santa. Noah, loving music, was equally thrilled that Santa let him hold his sleigh bells.

And We've Got Lights...

Noah & Norah helped Jeff hang up the Christmas lights outside. Noah, again, was pretty excited - he's such a "daddy's helper" - it's cute.Jeff just LOVES Christmas & gets really excited to get the lights up & looking good!Even put a Christmas tree in the 3-season room!Norah kept saying, "Tree, tree." She thought that was pretty neat.

Marchin'

Noah is often playing with his instruments...and says, "Keep those knees up, march, march!"

He's on a mission.

Thanksgiving

It was my side of the family's turn to have Thanksgiving this year & we had it at our house. Things were underway...In true Thanksgiving-fashion, Pa carves the turkey...and Lil'Miss holds on tightly to Ra-ra.My lucky brother was born on Thanksgiving - so we had a little "party" to follow, too. After eating a huge Thanksgiving dinner, having pie for dessert, after AJ opened his presents Noah said, "Where's the cake?!" Too funny. Norah helped Uncle AJ remove the tissue paper. And of course, Noah had to help, too.Happy 35th Birthday to you, Uncle AJ!

Good Reading Material

I'm not sure why, but Noah often grabs my Houghton "book" and "reads" it...even upside down....while on an oatmeal container, with his ball as a footrest. Goofball.

Spunk

Norah has such contagious spunk - you can't help but love her. Here she is wearing her first nightgown that Aunt Becky mailed down... But she insisted on keeping only 1 sock on.

1st We Celebrated Thanksgiving

Every year we (try) to put up what we call our "Harvest Tree." With Noah being almost 3 1/2, he really is starting to enjoy decorating for the seasons. "Princess Norah" helping in the perfect placing of the ornaments.Noah was sure proud of the tree!Happy Thanksgiving!

A Fairly Nice Day in October (the 19th)

There are so many reasons to love October. One being that you can put on a hat & coat & still enjoy the outdoors. Norah enjoyed toddling around...Jeff surprised me with his "skills" and had been putting up all the siding by himself on our 3-season room.Noah runs around in pure excitement that there are leaves to play with.Norah tries her hand with a shovel.Noah uses his leaf blower (side note: I LOVE this toy, it's too cute!)Noah can often be found on his swingset...sometimes he goes on his belly & says he's a super-hero. Also, ...too cute. And again, my handy-dandy husband.Kiddos playing in the leaves. Noah loved being buried in the leaves, even more so this year than last.

So thankful that we have this swingset & that the kiddos love it. I love fall... Oh fall, where have you gone - today there is an ugly rain-sleet mix upon us :(

Bedtime Stories

One of my favorite things is reading to my children. There's something extra special about cuddling up with them before bed & reading a story.

More, please?

She may be a peanut, but those eyes & her little "More" voice is too precious & gets us everytime.

October 15th, 2009 (Thursday)

Aunt Joan & Uncle Don are off on their honeymoon & missing the FIRST SNOW that we had back here in the 'Ville. Noah was so excited to see it snow that he insisted on going outside. SO, off we went in the backyard before getting ready for bed.

Aunt Joan is Married!!

Back on October 10th I had the honor to shoot my Aunt Joan's wedding. Aunt Joan is such a special person to me, and I've been praying for her wedding for sometime. It was so neat to see my grandpa walk her down the isle...and that grandma made her beautiful dress...and that she married Don. I've been waiting to call him Uncle Don for about 3 years now. Welcome to the family, Uncle Don. We love you both so much! All my aunts & uncles on my mom's side AND Grandpa & Grandma. This is one of my favorite pictures!

And Yes, We Went Trick or Treating, Too

It's been SO long since I've posted, now time to play catch-up. Norah enjoyed playing with Noah's Buzzlightyear wings & was eager to help.Noah - getting ready! He was the cutest little Buzz!Noah didn't always hold this still...he often was jumping off the furniture, saying he was flying... and yelling out, "To infinity & beyond!" ...very cute, not so good for the furniture though.I drew the "Buzz chin" on Noah & he had to check it out.Norah's turn to get ready. She kept meowing like a kitty - TOO cute!I'm ready to go, Mom.The kids LOVED trick-or-treating this year. We just go to the neighbors, then my brother & sister-in-law, Kelly & Steve's (friends from church), then my aunts & uncles & grandparents...a 3-hour outing & Noah just had so much fun. He kept saying, "Where to next, I need to get more candy!"
