Carving Time

Both kids were excited to carve pumpkins this year. Norah is a "dig in & get dirty" kinda girl...and Noah, although apprehensive at first, is always willing to see what things are all about.Jeff helped Noah do his pumpkin...Time to get all the guts out.Norah, holding the one of the "eyes" to Noah's pumpkin. They thought the "hole" was neat.So proud of his jack o'lantern.Norah's lil' jack o'lantern. She was so cute...she'd just sit & gaze at them.Happy Halloween! ...then inside to watch "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" "Each year, The Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see." ~Linus

Kent Farms ~ Pum'kin Pickin', October 22nd

Last night Jeff & I took the kids up to Kent Farms to get our pumpkins. It was a lovely 60 degree night, and Noah first had to play pirate:Norah got on board, but wasn't very fierce. Then to the train! The next tractor ride was ready & it was time to ride up to the pumpkin fields. Noah was thrilled because the tractor was "BIG!"Going up, up, up to the patch."Look, I found one...it's a BIG one!" Noah could hardly contain his excitement. This made it so fun for Jeff & I --Noah & Norah are at such fun ages. Little did Noah realize that there were TONS of pumpkins for him to peruse.Off he goes...Norah was having a great time, too. She certainly didn't have to be told what to do."Hmm, I can have any one of these?!"Hanging out.Norah was so cute, she kept saying "Ball, ball" and thumping the pumpkins; trying ever so hard to pick them up.Then, she found the "belly button" and was quite amused.Noah, holding on tight to his favorite."Do I have to sit here, I want to explore MORE!"Jeff & Noah walking back to the tractor ride.Me & the kiddos.Noah truly loved getting on & off the tractor ride, as well as examining all the "parts!" He's such a farm-kid.Norah liked the ride too - and was watching everything.Back at the barn, Noah was quick to hop on a mini-tractor-bike and ride around.Norah, Noah's shadow, was trying so hard to keep up with her big brother.Fun in the corn-box. What a neat idea --instead of sand, it's filled with lots & lots of corn.I love to look at all the fall things on display.Noah even enjoyed the "Hall of lights" - and liked seeing the pumpkins all carved so uniquely.Outside was an old firetruck --another must see for Mr. Noah. It was getting dark & time to head home. What a fun, fun evening. Can't wait to carve our pumpkins next week.

Pinecones

We had what seemed to be an unusual amount of pinecones this year. The funniest thing though was the the squirrels have been carrying them to EVERY.SINGLE.DIVOT in our backyard & stuffing them in there. We have pinecones everywhere.Jeff & Noah did a great job at cleaning them up the best they could.

Gazing

Norah loves to climb up on the bottom molding & gaze out the window at the birds or try to find the boys outside, while mommy is finishing up dishes...

Chalk

Both kids really enjoyed drawing on the driveway with chalk this summer. We'd have to remind Norah not to eat the chalk. Not sure what Noah was doing here, but find it interesting that he's holding his mouth the same way my Grandpa Sherwood does.

Erie County Fair (August 19th)

Jeff & I took the kids to the Erie County Fair this summer. Noah kept talking of the Fair & how excited he was. He enjoyed the train...He didn't want a camel ride (he said it smelled bad)...BUT, his most favorite thing of all - looking at tractors. I think we spent close to an hour & an 1/2 looking at tractors. My enthusiasm diminished after the first 15 minutes, although it was fun watching Noah look at all the different types. Noah was giving High-5's to all the characters walking around.Norah, who is our more outgoing one, was scared to death. Noah also enjoyed the reindeer exhibit.Long, hot day - time to head home & enjoy the lights.

Bonfires (August 14th)

One of Noah's favorite things to do this summer was to stay up a bit later than Norah & go out back & have a bonfire with Jeff & me. He loved making s'mores & then singing and telling stories by the fire. Right about now, as winter is fast approaching, I miss the long, warm evenings out by the fire.

Brother & Sister Moments

As it goes, Noah got done splashing, I went back into the 3-season room & Noah continued running. Before I walked back up to the house - Norah was exploring on her own, as she loves to do.Jeff & I were talking & we look up & see this: It was so precious. Noah had taken Norah's hand & was taking her for a walk around the backyard. Then we see them walk by the door -And walk back again. "Wow, the kids are getting along so well - how sweet."Next thing we know, we see this: The funniest thing is, Noah frequently 1) calls Norah "baby" and 2) He gets loud when she doesn't seem to listen to him and 3) he's pretty adamant about what she should be doing.
He was yelling, "Baby. BABY, hold my hand! Get back here, baby, HOLD.MY.HAND. Baby, hold on my hand!" He was leaning forward yelling this - and she has the disgusted look on her face-- it cracks me up.
He finally gave up --and off Norah goes, to the beat of her own drum.

A Boy, His Frog Boots, & Some Water

Back in August, we had lots & lots of rain. I had given up on thinking I should keep the kids out of the rain & learned how much FUN it is to just let them go at it.
So...off Noah went...
I couldn't help but grin as Noah, naturally, goes to the little bridge, takes off his boot, and puts his foot in.Stompin' through our stream. And he's off running again...

Noah's Big Boy Bike

This summer while at Jeff's brother & sister-in-law's - we noticed that Noah hopped on his cousin, Dylan's, bike. We didn't realize that Noah would enjoy riding a "big bike" but after that, we were on the hunt. In fact, coming home from their house ( a 2-hr ride) we hit the jack-pot. I found his bike at a yard sale & got it for $8. Noah was THRILLED."Look at me!" (And in true Noah-fashion - he rides with his frog boots on, silly boy.)Proud owner of a "Big Boy Bike." Of course, we told Noah that we'd have to get him a helmet & he was super anxious for us to just go out & buy one.A week or so later - not ONLY does he have his bike, but NOW his own helmet...with monkeys on it to boot!Noah, being ever so active, decides he's done riding & must mow the lawn...And give his sister a ride on the gator...And, *whew, I need a rest...A few nights later, Jeff & I were taking a walk down on the old runway & Noah wanted to take his bike. He did great...peddle, peddle, peddleKeeping right up with daddy.Of course Lil'Miss was with us too - she has bike-envy. She'll be riding sooner than we think, I'm sure. She is such a good sport about stuff -she really enjoys watching Noah have fun.

Blueberry Pickin' - August 23rd

Wow, where did the summer go? Back in August we went blueberry-ing with my parents.Noah, who adores Ra-ra & Papa was thrilled...The pickin' was rather sparse this year - due to all the rain.Norah had blueberries for the first time and LOVED them.Noah kept telling Papa that he'd "help" carry the bucket...he really was just snitching berries out...Papa picking - Noah eating.I LOVE this picture. So true to Noah's form --eating a blueberry, singing a song, and stompin' around in his favorite boots.Norah, keeping an eye on her brother while chowing down (nice blueberry on your sleeve, Lil'Miss)Noah drinking water from Papa's thermos...
And his other best friend, Ra-ra. What a fun morning - combined we got 9 lbs of berries. Mmm.

Washin' the John Deere

Jeff was out washing the cars - and Noah decided he needed to wash his 'Deere. He's such a good helper & always so proud of himself. I just love him to pieces!Always paying attention to fine-details.Swish, swish, swish...Jeff even helped him use the power-washer.And - drying it off so he can keep on riding.

3-Season Room: Day #3 & 4

Jeff worked very hard on getting the windows in place before my dad came over to help --One more to go!My parents came over & dad helped Jeff plumb the windows.pound, pound, pound. They then worked on getting the door hung.Voila - what the house looks like from the kids' swingset. And - standing back near our fire-pit.
